Kivi wrote all his significant works in Fanjunkars in Siuntio under the care of Charlotta Lönnqvist. Lux Musicae and Kivi’s production have a lot in common. We have commissioned the Kivi songs from composer Kimmo Hakola, the chamber opera Over Black Water was based on Kivi’s long poems, the commissioned work was from composer Lauri Kilpiö and the libretto was from poet Johanna Venho.
Minä elän – jag lever! festival featured Einojuhani Rautavaara’s opera Kivi. It was carried out in cooperation with the Lohja Philharmonic Orchestra. The soloists included the brilliant Helena Juntunen, Ville Rusanen and Sanna Iljin. The cast members were Tommi Korpela and Sampo Sarkola, too.
