Omaggio -remembering you

Teppo Koivisto, piano, Pami Karvonen piano, Kasmir Uusitupa violin

Omaggio means tribute. Composers have treated the theme in an incredible variety of ways, with different dedications to loved ones, friends or a person of admiration.

The concert programme is made up of various tributes. In a piece dedicated by Sibelius to his spouse, echoes of the lost Eighth Symphony can be heard alongside a declaration of love. Liszt’s wedding music for violin and piano is written for a friend. Gluck’s melodies, on the other hand, are well known, as is Beethoven’s Für Elise. Pärt’s haunting classic Für Alina also reflects the Iron Curtain atmosphere of the Cold War.

Program:

Bach:Preludi

Bach-Siloti: Preludi

Beethoven: Für Elise (piano solo)

Gluck: Baletti no 19 “Orpheu´s Lament ” from opera “Orfeus”

Sibelius: Rakkaalle Ainolle/to my beloved Aino

Gluck: Aria no 27 “Ach, Ich habe sie verloren” from opera “Orpheus”

Pärt: Für Alina (piano solo)
