Katri Tikka graduated with a master’s degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2019. She also studied in the Netherlands and Norway. Suomen väveltaiteen tukisäätiö and Pro Musica supported her during her studies.
Katri regularly assists several Finnish orchestras such as Oulu Symphony and Kuopio City Orchestra. She works as a soloist and as a chamber musician in many ensembles, such as together with vibraphonist-composer Arttu Takalon. They have performed e.g.
Taiteiden yössä and at the Koko Jazz Club. Katri also brings music to nursing homes, for listeners who rarely get to hear live music.
In addition to the pedal harp, Katri also plays the baroque harp, and has performed as a soloist of the Oulu Baroque Orchestra and together with a singer – recorder player Linnéa Casserly in Korppi ja muratti duet.
Katri has premiered several new works for pedal harp and chamber music, e.g. with Amiga band (clarinet, percussion, harp). In 2022, she premiered Sebastian Dumitrescu’s composition *Nețărmurs *microtonally for a tuned baroque harp.
In 2022, Katri’s work has been supported by a Finnish-Norwegian cultural fund, Musiikinedistämissäätiö and Taike.
