Jukka Untamala is among the most versatile and interesting musicians in Finland. He has done his vast studies as a violinist in Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and as a chamber musician in the European Chamber Music Academy, ECMA, and as a conductor in the Panula Academy under the esteemed prof. Jorma Panula. 

As a conductor he gave his debut concert in 2016 and has since gained reputation and visits to many orchestras around Finland such as Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Joensuu, Vaasa and Jyväskylä City Orchestras. He has also played as a leader and a soloist for example with Lappeenranta City Orchestra and Pietarsaari Sinfonietta and worked as a concertmaster and section leader in many of Finlands major Orchestras.

Untamala is also well known as an active chamber musician and the original member of the Kamus String Quartet and has visited nearly all of Finlands Music Festivals and performs regularly all over the world. With Kamus Quartet he has won many competition prizes as well as for example the EMMA-prize for the best album of the year 2017 and the Recording of the Year Prize by Finnish National Broadcasting Company, YLE in 2016. Starting in 2019 Kamus will follow Pekka Kuusisto as the new artistic director of the renowned Our Festival. In the fall of 2020 Jukka will start as the new artistic director of Lohja City Orchestra.
