Lux Musicae has commissioned the chamber opera Over the Black Water. It is based on the poems of Aleksis Kivi who wrote most of his production in Siuntio. Kivi (10 October 1834 – 31 December 1872) was a Finnish author who wrote the first significant novel in the Finnish language, Seven Borthers. Although Kivi was among the very earliest authors of prose and lyrics, he is still considered one of the greatest.
The top team of the opera includes composer Lauri Kilpiö and librettist Johanna Venho, soloists Tuuli Lindeberg soprano, Jussi Lehtipuu baritone and Taavi Oramo conductor. Orchestra musicians are Emil Holmström piano, Mikko Raasakka bass clarinet, Markus Hohti cello and Antti Ohenoja percussion. The opera is directed and visualized by artist Raija Malka.
Over the Black Water gets its premiere on Friday 7 o’clock pm.
