The 21st Lux Musicae makes a sea voyage from St. Petersburg via Siuntio to Stockholm and vice versa. The theme of the festival is Connected by the Sea. It emphasizes the importance of the sea as a link between cultures and peoples in history, now and in the future, but also the importance of slowing down climate change and protecting the seas, especially the Baltic Sea. The Festival is held despite exceptional times. We offer for our audience a musical oasis at a time when social distance is a rule. At the same time, the festival also celebrates the 560 anniversary of Siuntio, its rich cultural history as a part of eastern Sweden and western Russia, but especially its present as a bilingual and secure community where people's lives interact with nature, sea, culture - as well as with everyday worries and joys. Concerts held in Siuntio Church will start with top Swedish pianist Roland Pöntinen and end with Finnish modern folk music pioneer Maria Kalaniemi and Eero Grundström. Under the leadership of the young and wild conductor Janne Nisonen, Igor Stravinsky's History of a Soldier will be realized with the musicians of the Lohja City Orchestra. Stravinsky´s composition is inspired by the horrors of World War I. The story fits well with the theme of Lux Musicae, Connected by the Sea, while it underlines the importance of peace and dialogue between peoples. The festival will also present Pentti Hildén's trio and Bellman's music at Suitia Castle. So indeed, there will be unique experiences in unique concert environments! Ticket sales will begin after mid-August. Lux Musicae is worth to experiende with all the senses 13-15.11.2020. Welcome!
