Have a Rest in Music

Square

Pami Karvonen is the founder of the Lux Musicae festival. He is multitalent musician – pianist, organist but also a choir leader. Karvonen is especially interested in meditative music.  He will introduce Feldman’s music to the audience of the festival with Tommi Sarlin, who is both author and therapist.

Morton Feldman (January 12, 1926 – September 3, 1987) was an American composer. Feldman’s works are characterized by notational innovations that he developed to create his characteristic sound: rhythms that seem to be free and floating; pitch shadings that seem softly unfocused; a generally quiet and slowly evolving music; recurring asymmetric patterns. His later works, after 1977, also begin to explore extremes of duration.

In concert we will hear For Bunita Marcus.
